In 1979 KISS were no longer just KISS, but SuperKISS! And the new outfits were reflecting
the new superhero image!
For the solo albums each member had their own signature color, and this was incorporated
into the outfits, and the shows as well.
outfit were the usual black leotard with an open chest. But instead of stars, the costume
and boots had "peacock feather"-like designs in Paul's signature color,
Over that Paul would usually wear a jacket, also in bright purple (picture A). The jacket
was held together by a belt with a star buckle.
All four members would enter the stage in superhero-capes... Paul's can be seen on picture
B - a silver cape, with black lining.
As it is seen on the picture, the cape went over one
shoulder and under the other arm (held by a rhinestone covered cross belt). The cape
wasn't used much, but can be seen in the "Shandi" promo video! On picture C you
can see the cape laid out on the ground, which gives a very good look at the design.
Picture D shows more details of the purple jacket: a rhinestone covered collar, two
rhinestone covered shoulder pads, and a set of rhinestone covered cuffs. The cuffs were
detachable (which can be seen in video footage shot backstage for a TV show).
If you compare picture
E and F, you can see that there existed two versions of the leotard. The one on picture F
had more "peacock feathers". This version of the costume was introduced during
the last half of the Dynasty tour.
Picture G is a rare view of the backside of the costume. Note that this is the version
also shown in picture E!
