COSTUMES
1973
Gene's first costume was a rented sailors suit, used for
the bands audition for Epic Records' Don Ellis (picture A, taken that night in late 1972).When Gene came upon his demonic persona, he felt his costume should mirror this. But the flowered shirt seen in picture B, was definitely not the right image (and thankfully it only crops up in one or two pictures from the period). Picture C and D are from the summer of 1973, and now the costume was a leather jacket, a pair of homemade black glitter pants, and a skull-and-crossbones t-shirt (possibly also homemade).
