ERIC'S COSTUMES
Eric
Carr joined in June 1980, and the first job was to find an image for him. At first they
came up with The Hawk. Picture A is the original sketch of the make-up (probably by
Paul Stanley), while picture B and C are the only known photos of the make-up. Sadly
picture B is in black-and-white, while a color version can be seen in the "KISS My
Ass" home video! But
back to the first costume. It was a black leotard which was open at the chest with
rhinestones along the edges and down the sides (as seen in picture I), and a red
leatherjacket (picture J and K), which mostly would be used for photo shoots. The jacket
had orange fur on the shoulders (orange was Eric's signature color). As you can see, the
jacket could either be buttoned or opened. There were cuffs on the sleeves, which were
covered with orange rhinestones. Eric also wore a pair of gloves, which were black with
white rhinestones (both the cuffs and gloves are clearly visible on picture K). And a last
detail: Eric wore a studded belt around the waist, with a buckle shaped like a fox'
head. return
