KISS WILL NOT PERFORM

Only one day after it was confirmed, it has just been announced through the official website, KISSONLINE, that Kiss have cancelled their appearance at the benefit concert.

Quote:

The members of KISS regretfully announce they will not perform at the United We Stand benefit concert at RFK Stadium in Washington DC on October 21. Lead singer Paul Stanley postponed hip surgery (KISS NEWS reported on October 5) in the hope that the NY band could be a part of the show; however, after starting initial physical preparation, it became apparent that increasing pain and the possibility of further damage would not allow him to meet the intense physical demands of a KISS performance. "Although I know that at this time I cannot deliver what this audience will expect and deserve," Stanley said, "as Americans, and as a band that was born in New York, we stand united with everyone involved in this incredible event."

Pollstar confirmed Kiss' appearance at the benefit show already earlier (KISS NEWS reported with doubts on October 9).

SIMMONS, KISS, KING DEEMED "HEROES"

(from www.billboard.com via Tristan Glasey)

Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, shock rock act Kiss, and singer/songwriter Carole King will be honored with 2001 New York Heroes Awards, bestowed by the local chapter of the Recording Academy. Also to be honored is Linda Moran, president of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and special advisor to the CEO and co-COO of AOL Time Warner.

The four recipients will be celebrated at a Dec. 4 gala at New York's Roosevelt Hotel. Proceeds from the BMI-sponsored event will be donated to charities supporting the families of the World Trade Center rescuers who sacrificed their lives in order to save others.

"The New York Heroes Awards, one of the Recording Academy's most prestigious events, is once again demonstrating the New York Chapter's commitment to service," Recording Academy president/CEO Michael Greene said in a statement. "All of the honorees have made contributions not just to our culture through their endeavors, but have also recognized that with their unique talents come the responsibility to give something back to the community. Through this event, the New York Chapter is raising funds to assist the New York Heroes of the police, fire and emergency services who so selflessly dedicated their lives to save their fellow New Yorkers."

The 2001 quartet of honorees join past Heroes Awards recipients Tony Bennett, Mary J. Blige, Michael Bolton, Chuck D, LL Cool J, Philip Glass, B.B. King, Bernadette Peters, Tito Puente, Lou Reed, Diana Ross, Salt 'N Pepa, Carly Simon, and Billboard's Timothy White and Irv Lichtman. The problem is the original Logoredonwhite-blackoutline5mm.jpg (974 Byte) logo, which would have to be changed. At the moment there are discussions, if it is worth it to have a special print run for Germany or not. All logos on the CD, in the book and on the box itself would have to be replaced with the censored logo.

SECOND KISS AUCTION IN DECEMBER
(from Jacques van Gool)
Well, if you are still struggling with what you want for Christmas this year-and if you're not satisfied with the upcoming Boxed Set, the new Gene Spencer Doll, the new Trading Card Set, the Coffin or anything else... pencil DECEMBER 6, 2001 in your agenda.

I just today spoke to the Sales Manager of GREG MANNING in New Jersey who handles the KISS 'left overs' and he confirmed that there will be a 2nd KISS AUCTION on December 6, 2001 in NEW YORK. Venue not known yet, but this is 99% confirmed. The auction will be in part "left overs" from last year in addition to " a lot" of new stuff (his words, not mine).

The catalog will be shipped in about 4 -5 weeks from now, they're pulling everything together as we speak...

Thought you might appreciate the 'insight'...

FREHLEY'S FURY
(from "gossip-section" of  www.nypost.com via Gordon Gebert)
The following has been printed online at the New York Post - PAGE SIX ("gossip-section") on October 3, 2001. Article By RICHARD JOHNSON with PAULA FROELICH and CHRIS WILSON:

ACE Frehley had a rough night Saturday. First, the KISS guitarist showed up minus makeup at the Friars Roast of Hugh Hefner with a black eye (given to him by his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend). Frehley then suffered the indignity of having his coveted seat on the dais stolen by Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling, forcing him to sit in the audience. Later, Frehley and his daughter Monique, 21, joined Hef, his harem of hotties, and Rob Schneider at Spa, where a drunken clubgoer groped and tried to kiss Monique. Frehley, his patience shot, responded by punching the guy in the face.
