STUDIO CHIKARA TO RELEASE ERIC CARR COMMEMORATIVE TRADING CARDS

(from Studio Chikara)
Studio Chikara--known for its high-quality licensed publications and
collectibles--will release trading cards based on the life of late KISS
drummer, Eric Carr.

"Eric Carr is the one Kiss member that hasn't received the recognition he deserves," says publisher Robert V. Conte.  "It's time that Eric's complete story was told so fans can appreciate the significant contributions he made to the band and to music in general. "

Carr--whose real name was Paul Caravello--answered Kiss' advertisement seeking a replacement for drummer Peter "Catman" Criss.  After joining Kiss in mid 1980, Caravello's stage name was created along with his makeup persona known as the Fox.  From late 1983 until Eric's death in 1991 from cancer, Kiss toured the world and recorded several albums (Lick it Up, Animalize, Asylum, Crazy Nights, Smashes Thrashes & Hits, and Hot in the Shade) without
their infamous kabuki makeup.

The Eric Carr Commemorative Trading Card Set will be released on April 29, 2001 and is strictly limited to 1,000 sets.

Disclaimer: All Eric Carr products produced by Studio Chikara are endorsed by the Caravello family and are not authorized by the rock group Kiss.

KISS TV APPEARANCES THIS WEEK

(from Martin Tadzik)
A taped interview with Gene & Paul was shown on "Rove Live" on Tuesday 27th March. The host interviewed Gene & Paul whilst they applied make-up to his face. Different video footage from the PPV concert were used for the report. This was quite a good & funny interview especially when Gene had to get up and "adjust" himself.

Channel 10 evening and late night news had a report from the press conference held on Tuesday.

"The Footy Show" on Thursday 29th March also showed a taped interview with Gene & Paul. Nothing new came from this with most of the questions revolving around the band's sexual exploits.

Channel 9 evening news tonight (30th March) finished off with video footage from Kiss's opening night in Perth.

GENE & PAUL AT 2 MMM

(from Martin Tadzik)
I just met Gene & Paul at radio station 2MMM! They were live on The Veggies show so I thought I'd take a chance and head on over there to try and see them. Cutting a long story short I arrived in the foyer of 2MMM and to my surprise there were only four other fans waiting plus band security. Tommy Thayer was also there. Towards 6.30pm Gene & Paul came out and were happy to sign autographs. I asked Gene if I could have a photo with him to which he replied "anything you want". The receptionist took the photo and he signed a group photo I had. However, by this time Paul had been ushered into the lift and I didn't manage to get his autograph. It was GREAT to be close to them. The one word/colour that comes to mind is Black! Black hair, Black clothes......Rock Gods!! They looked really good. Gene had his hair back in a pony tail (no cap). Paul had his pushed out but back off his face. Gene then got in the lift and they were gone. Although it was a brief encounter it sure was another dream come true.

KISS IN AUSTRALIA

(from Mark Bridge)
KISS is HERE!!!!
Special thanks to Martin Tadzik for this news...

KISS arrived in Australia yesterday the 24th March arriving at Sydney Airport. There is a report of the arrival on page 33 of The Sun Herald. Please note only the NSW edition of this newspaper has the story, interstate editions do not. A picture of Paul 'unmasked' and another with makeup are featured in the story.

Today's Sunday Mail in Brisbane features one of the 'counting down' ads with the again revised artwork using the group photo that appeared on KISSONLINE a couple of weeks back.

Finally there will be a KISS press conference in Sydney on Tuesday the 27th. Unfortunately it is a 'media only' event. Lets hope it does not turn out like the 97 circus.

KISS DOWNUNDER FAREWELL TOUR

(from minemsn)
Rooted in the campy theatrics of Alice Cooper and the sleazy hard rock of glam rockers the New York Dolls, Kiss became a favourite of American teenagers in the '70s. As for the music, it was a commercially potent mix of anthemic, fist-pounding hard rock driven by sleek hooks and ballads powered by loud guitars, cloying melodies and sweeping strings.

Kiss are back to tour Australia so if you know what's good for you and you love rock you'll be there (and so will your father!) Buy tickets here.

KISS & SELL SOLD OUT

bookKissandSell2001-02Japan.gif (3240 Byte)A Japanese version of the "Kiss & Sell" book has been published by Shinko Music recently. (Kiss & Sell from Chris Lendt was originally published by Billboard in the States in 1997 and was a big seller). The limited edition print run of 4.000 copies was sold out immediately. The reprint has been already ordered. The book has over 350 pages, is very heavy and very expensive. It also contains a lot of photos, some of them in colour. A Discography is included as well. Shinko Music had also distributed the Kisstory book and sold respectable amounts of it in Japan (they did not distribute Kisstory II though).

KISS ON "TODAY" SHOW

(from Martin Tadzik)
Kiss were interviewed on the "Today" show on TV here in Australia today.

March 15, 2001
PAUL STANLEY INTERVIEW
Paul Stanley was interviewed for the March 11 issue of the Australian Sunday newspaper "The Sunday Mail". The interview revealed little news, but Paul told the interviewer that the Canberra/Gold Coast show will be the last show... no further shows have been planned in the the USA or else-where so far. Paul also talked about the fans reaction to Eric Singer's return to the band (seemingly oblivious to the fact that the bad reaction was mainly due to the decision to put Eric in Peter's make-up/costume, and not so much Eric himself), and said that once the music would start the complaints would die out!
Finally Paul also talked a bit about what he would do after the end of KISS, and again no real surprises there: Paul will do some kind of Broadway stage production.

March 14, 2001
NO FLAMING DRUMSTICKS??
Fans that went to the Japanese shows have asked why Eric Singer didn't do the promised flaming drumstick trick... and the answer is the following: due to the heavy fire regulations in Japan, the trick wasn't allowed by the fire departments!!

March 11, 2001
FEW SURPRISES AT FIRST KISS SHOW
The reports from the first shows in Japan are coming in, and they tell that the attending fans were in for a couple of surprises. As expected Eric played a drumsolo during God Of Thunder and sang Black Diamond, while Paul played parts of I Still Love You during his solo before Black Diamond (just as he had done during the Farewell Tour in the USA), but one real surprise were the addition of Talk To Me from Unmasked! This marks the first time, that the reformed KISS has played any songs from that album (except for the fact that Shandi were played by Paul in the Australian shows in 1997... and well, with Eric Singer in the band it's not really the reformed KISS anymore, is it??).

March 7, 2001
PAUL STANLEY SUED FOR DIVORCE
(From AP Newswire)
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The wife of KISS frontman Paul Stanley has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Pamela Bowen Stanley is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 6-year-old son, Evan Shane. She also is asking for spousal support. The couple married on July 26, 1992, and separated earlier this year, according to the divorce petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday. The couple's assets will be divided later, according to the court papers. Stanley is an original member of the rock band KISS, which is on its "Farewell Tour." Read more here.

FIRST KISS PHOTOSESSION WITH ERICgroup.jpg (113255 byte)
It has been really, really quiet lately on the KISS front, but finally there is some news to report! Today KISS leaves for Japan, where the tour will start on Friday (March 9, 2001) in Yokohama.
After the bands appearance on Australian morning TV recently, they did a quick photosession with Eric Singer, and the result can be seen here!
