KISS CAR
GenePaulwithKISScar.jpg (18058 Byte)
Dear friends!
Here is the news I got at the General Motors press cite. Also include photo of the new car, Gene and Paul.

Best regards,
God=Of=Thunder,
Moscow.

ACDelco, Kurt Johnson, KISS And Cavalier Form Hot Rod Supergroup

Grand Blanc, Mich. - The crashing thunder of rock power chords and deep bass crescendos of 1,300 horsepower combined to create a medley of high-performance music together at the official unveiling of Kurt Johnson's ACDelco NHRA Pro Stock Cavalier Z24 on August 14. Featuring artwork by renowned motorsports artist Sam Bass, Johnson's Cavalier sports a visual theme inspired by the rock group KISS.

Johnson was joined by KISS band members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley at the car's unveiling as part of Employee Enthusiasm Day at General Motors Service and Parts Operations (GM SPO) headquarters in Grand Blanc, MI. The car will prove that it's more than just a pretty, rock'n'roll painted face when it squares off at the Strip at the ACDelco NHRA POWERade Las Vegas Nationals on October 23-26. Simmons and Stanley will serve as Grand Marshals of the race for the second consecutive year.

This will be Johnson's second tour of duty as the pilot for the KISS Drag Racing Army, having carried their colors during the final two races of the 2002 Pro Stock campaign. With a win in Las Vegas and a No. 1 qualifying position in Pomona, Johnson intends to repeat his success with images inspired by "The Greatest Rock N' Roll Show on Earth" emblazoned on his Cavalier.

"We had a blast with the KISS crew last year, and I know Gene and Paul got a kick out of our sport," Johnson said. "Our goal is to have them once again join us in the winner's circle in Las Vegas."

ACDelco General Manager Scott Mackie explained the linkage between KISS and ACDelco. "There is a natural bond between the people who love racing and those who love rock and roll," Mackie said. "We're ready to build upon the tremendous response we received from last year's promotion, and we're thrilled to welcome KISS back to the ACDelco team."

This marks the second year that Sam Bass will pen the KISS-themed ACDelco ride. Bass, of Charlotte, NC, is well known for his dramatic paint schemes in both the NHRA and NASCAR circuits, including those of current ACDelco drivers Kurt Johnson and Ron Hornaday. A devoted member of the KISS Army, Bass relished the opportunity to design a racecar featuring the band.

"I have been a KISS fan since their debut album," Bass recalls. "When I saw them for the first time in 1976 I was absolutely blown away by their makeup, music and phenomenal stage show. I never could have imagined I would have this incredible opportunity to work with KISS and ACDelco and design their race car. To me this has been the ultimate rock 'n' roll fantasy."

ALIVE IV COVER DESIGNS

(from Jerry Cornish)
I just checked out the web site of "T42 Design" - the design house that KISS used for a few recent projects like the new Symphony Alive IV release
(The box set, recent tour books, etc)
.  Anyway, they have updated their website and the Alive IV cover development is the Featured Project this month.  It's extremely cool to see the many different ideas that bounced back and forth in the development of the final cover.  They even feature a few of Paul Stanley's idea sketches! The website can be found here:  www.t42design.com
Once you enter the site, click "Portfolio" and then the lowest bubble will be for "Featured Project".

ROCK 'N ROLL HALL OF FAME

(from Angel Punko)
We the KISS Army members has started a petition to help get the greatest band in the world into the Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Fame. Myself and some of my Kiss Army brothers and sister has created a website that offers a place to sign, some flyers and bookmarks  that can be printed and handed out or just to keep for your personal use. We will have some T-shirt designs here in the next few days. So, what you need to do is just visit our website and show your support for KISS and sign the petition. All, of the petitions will be hand delivered and every one will be updated on the outcome of the effort that we have all put fourth. We are hoping to get KISS inducted into the Rock-N-Rool Hall of Fame or at least get their attention and make them realize that KISS can't be ignored.
We hope to hear from the KISS Army soon. So, lets get this petition going.

CONCERT REVIEW

(from www.billboard.com)
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Yes, they haven't made a great album in decades. Yes, their show basically hasn't changed in eons. Yes, Paul Stanley's comments are often corny. And, yes, they seem a million times more interested in money than the music these days.

But when the members of Kiss take the stage in full makeup and costume, when they bring the full-on fire-filled, monster-truck-riff-laden, blood-spewing spectacle, it's hard to deny that what you're seeing is indeed what it is often dubbed -- the greatest show on Earth. [read the rest]

ACE SPEAKS OUT AT BILLBOARD.COM

(from www.billboard.com)
With Kiss nearing the launch of its co-headlining trek with Aerosmith, the band's former guitarist, Ace Frehley, wants to make certain that fans know he won't be a part of the tour, and that he's hard at work on his next solo record.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard, Frehley says he will not be hitting the road for two reasons: In 2001, when Kiss finished its Farewell tour, he says he was told by bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley that the jaunt would be the band's last. And, as a result, at the end of that tour, he began planning and working on his seventh, as-yet-untitled, solo record, which he didn't want to delay for another nostalgia-focused tour with Kiss.
