ACE 'S COSTUMES

There
were at least three different versions of Aces costume, but they didn't vary much. It was
a black "spacesuit" with silver rings around his shoulders, and silver lightning
bolts down the sides and thighs. A new thing was the rhinestones sewn on the outfit, in
patterns to make it look like objects on the sky at night. And it's here the difference
between the three versions can be seen. The first version was the one seen in picture A.
The "space objects" on this version resembled comets.
Ace didn't wear platform boots with this costume, but rather silver platform shoe, as seen
in picture B.
The second version can be seen in picture C. Instead of comets, the rhinestones here looks
like stars on the sky at night. And if you look even closer, you can see that the
lightning's meeting at the chest, have been turned over (compare them to the lightning's
in picture A and D, and you'll see what I mean!!).
As you also can see in picture C (and D), is that Ace often wore the outfit, with the
sleeves pulled up over the elbows, but the outfit did in fact have full length sleeves as
seen in picture A.
There was one more variation, though. The costume on picture D was worn on the 1976
European tour, and here the comets had returned. But there were far more rhinestones in
the tails of the comets on this version! I also think this one was made with short sleeves
(ending at the elbow)!

E shows Ace from behind... as you can see all the lightning bolts meets just above his
ass!
Picture F shows Ace wearing his 1974 boots with the 1975 costume. The reason why is
unclear, and the combination is really rare... I have only seen this one photo of it!!
I thought the outfit seen in picture G was only used for a couple of photo shoots, but
then I found picture H, which clearly shows, that Ace actually wore this, at least for one
show. It was a long sleeved black satin jacket with a silver trimming. The boots worn with
this outfit, is the ones with the lightning bolts used in 1974. Ace was also wearing this
costume for the bands appearance in Cadillac in 1975.
The outfit worn on picture I, was worn for a photo session for Circus Magazine in early
1976, but as far as I know, this was never an official costume, but probably something
from Aces private wardrobe.
