ACE 'S COSTUMES

 Picture A was taken in late
1973, when the band was wearing black leotards. It seems that Ace's leotard was made of
velvet. Note the leather belt around his waist, it would return for the next outfit.Already for the New Years Eve show in 1973, the band had new costumes, and on picture B and C we see Ace's. It was a black leather shirt, with lightning bolt designs down the front. The boots (picture C) also had lightning bolts. This outfit can be seen in video recordings of the bands performance on Dick Clarke's "ABC In Concert". Around the neck triangles made of round studs, the design as on the shirt in picture A in the 1973 section! |
  But Ace got a new outfit within the year. It was a black
leotard, with a large triangular thing on the shoulders (picture D and E). He would still
wear the lightning bolt boots, but also a garter belt sort-of-thing around his waist.
The belt was tied in front to begin with, but Ace would soon tie it on the back instead
(picture E).Like Gene, Ace also wore a very different costume for the Hotter Than Hell photo session... a futuristic silver dress as seen on picture F. The belt around his waste, was the one from the costume in picture D and E. The boots were the ones seen on picture G. They were black with studs, and were also worn with the normal costume... Picture H shows a variation from early 1975. KISS were photographed for a magazine on the streets of New York. For the photo shoot Ace wore an ordinary black t-shirt and pants instead of the usual leotard!  return to KISS costumes main page
